Sheep

Candy

We started our flock of dairy sheep with three of the prettiest sheep around.  Okay to be fair, Candy won’t be winning any beauty contests, but she has a lovely disposition.

Our original three ladies came from a working dairy in northern California.  They are East Frisian/ Lacaune crosses.  Dairy sheep are hard to find in the US, and, for us, there has been a steep learning curve.  Our goal is to bring in a rockstar ram spring of 2015 to strengthen our milking genetics, and contribute to the burgeoning US sheep dairy movement.

All of our dairy friends are tested for CL, OPP, Johne’s, and Scrapie genetic susceptibility.  We participate in the National Scrapie Eradication Program, and keep diligent records to ensure proper flock management.  Our goal is to produce a hardy, milktastic dairy line that any homesteader or commercial dairy would be proud to add to the flock.
